About sextalk Project

Thaisextalk.com is a personal project. No, I’m not offering an online erotic-talk service, or trying to sell you sex. Not in that kind of business.

I simply want to talk about sex and other things related to love, romance and sexuality that concern Thai culture and people, especially Thai women. (Here I explain the main reason why.)

One other reason is that there have been lots of books and blogs written on the subject, mostly by foreign men seeking romance with Thai women and foreign men who have “been there, done that” giving advice to the newbies.

Nothing wrong with that. I just want to offer a different and, as yet, still scarce, perspective of a Thai woman on the subject.

Some might be wondering why a “riap-roy” (well-behaved, proper” Thai woman would be talking about such a naughty thing. Well, why not? Sex is not all naughty and dirty. (Here’s what I mean by “sex”.)

I want to – I hope – to offer a mature, and perhaps occasionally provocative, discussion on the subject of love, romance and, yes, sex, in Thai society, by looking through large and small cultural lenses to see both the big picture and the smaller pictures within the big picture more clearly with depth.

Sometimes assumptions and stereotypes lead people off track, and this is not helpful, if you want to have a real understanding of a society or a person you (want to) have a relationship with. But then again, a person is not always a representative of a culture. So, assuming that a Thai woman should fit a certain type, for example, can also be a mistake.

Because I can only speak for myself when I give an opinion about a matter, please be advised that my view may not be representative of the majority of Thai people and society (although I do think that some, even many, share my thinking — they just don’t talk about it). By Thai standards, I am probably a little too forthright and critical. So, you have been warned. ;-)
