This
website is created to help bridge the gap of cultural understanding
about love and romance—between Thais and lovers and friends of Thais.
Many
of us believe that love is blind. It sounds so romantic. Indeed
love can make you blind about race, culture and national borders.
It doesn’t matter where your sweetheart comes from or whether you
understand only a few words that come out of your lover’s mouth.
All love ever needs is that indefinable spark and a body language.
Or doest it?
Certainly,
when attraction is strong or the pheromones are surging, nothing
in the world matters. But usually after that initial stage of attraction
has waned and the real world sets in, there are many things that
begin to matter—that is, if the couple wants to go for the long
haul.
There
are many cases of successful cross-cultural love affairs, but cases
of cross-cultural heartache and heartache are also many. I don’t
believe that men are from Mars and women from Venus. But in cross-cultural
relationships, lovers may sometimes find themselves thinking just
that.
Lack
of understanding
of the other’s language and culture can be frustrating. And sometimes,

is designed not only as a companion of the book, but also as a space
for Thais and friends of Thai people to share views about romance
and relationships.
